PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM THE SA ENGINEERS AND FOUNDERS ASSOCIATION IN RELATION TO PRESIDENT ZUMA’S CABINET RE-SHUFFLE

South African Engineers and Founders Association

The SA Engineers and Founders Association, an employer organisation representing over 450 companies and 35,000 employees in the critical Metal Industry voices its strong disapproval of the latest Cabinet re-shuffle by President Zuma, in particular the firing of Minister Gordhan and Deputy Minister Jonas, formerly of the Treasury. This, while Ministers Bathabile Dlamini and Faith Muthambi, both of whom have presided over calamitous performances in their respective Ministries, have remained untouched.

There can be no doubt whatsoever that President Zuma has simply punished those who have stood against him, and rewarded his loyalists, with no regard to the resultant damage caused to the economy and the country as a whole. Our Metal Industry, member companies and employees will unquestionably suffer too. Those who are going to suffer the most, though, will be the 9 million (and counting) unemployed, whose hopes of an economic recovery to lift them out of poverty have just been dashed.

SA Engineers and Founders calls on Parliament to take the steps they are morally, ethically and duty-bound to, to immediately put an end to the capture of SA, and stop what will otherwise be the unavoidable rapid downward spiral of our economy into poverty and chaos.
