FRAUDULENT CIRCULAR
I was informed by the MEIBC General Secretary that there is a fraudulent circular /document which is purported to be from the MEIBC office. The circular/document is titled ” Special Council Levy Payable in Terms of the Dispute Resolution Agreement”.
The body of the circular makes reference to the Sick Pay Fund. Subsequent to the circular/document, the fraudster/s (perpetrator/s) send an invoice to their potential victims, suggesting that the Council has changed its banking details and the invoice/s will reflect the banking details that are not the Council’s ones.
- The MEIBC have drafted the attached circular which will be sent out to the industry. It will also be posted on the Council’s website.
- The MEIBC has opened a case of fraud with the SA Police Service and have asked the bank to freeze that particular bank account, and the bank undertook to escalate the matter into their fraud division.
